FTP cannot be connected, Status: “Server did not properly shut down TLS connection”

Albert He: FTP cannot be connected, Status: “Server did not properly shut down TLS connection”

Albert He: This question is related to account: hostlike.com

Boyan K.: Hello Albert,

Boyan K.: Welcome to the live chat!

Boyan K.: I hope you are doing well! 🙂

Albert He: hi

Boyan K.: I saw your query and I will do my best to assist you!

Boyan K.: May I ask which FTP account you are connecting?

Albert He: thanks

Albert He: hostlike@hostlike.com

Boyan K.: Thanks for the clarification!

Boyan K.: May I ask what details you are using to connect?

Albert He: using: filezilla

Albert He: Error: GnuTLS error -110: The TLS connection was non-properly terminated. Status: Server did not properly shut down TLS connection Error: The data connection could not be established: ECONNABORTED – Connection aborted

Boyan K.: Okay! Let me give you the details.

Boyan K.: Here are they:

FTP Username: hostlike
FTP Server: usm92.siteground.biz
FTP & explicit FTPS port: 21

Albert He: something changed?

Boyan K.: Absolutely, not. These are the default details. Please try to connect and let me know how it goes.

Albert He: no luck

Boyan K.: Hm, that’s quite strange. Can I get the password, so I can try from my end?

Albert He: it was working

Boyan K.: Can I, please get the password, so I can test it from my end?

Albert He: not remember it. it is stored on filezilla

Albert He: let me create a new one

Boyan K.: Bear in mind that the password for the main FTP account is your cPanel passoword.

Boyan K.: For any other accounts, you can change the password from cPanel -> FTP Accounts.

Albert He: test@hostlike.com / Pass123%%

Albert He: created new

Boyan K.: Okay! Let me try!

Boyan K.: Thanks for your patience!

Boyan K.: I was able to connect. You can check here -> snipboard.io/VGgR9n.jpg

Boyan K.: Can I get a screenshot from your end, please?

Albert He: the new account work

Albert He: but the old one still not working

Albert He: it was working last night

Albert He: could you please reset the ftp server?

Boyan K.: Okay! In that case, please make sure that you have the correct password. If you are not sure – you can reset it from your User Area -> My Accounts -> Information & Settings.

Albert He: nothing changed, absolutely correct

Boyan K.: As much as I would like to that, this is not possible. However, I can ensure you that the FTP server is working normally as I was able to connect. If you provide me with the cPanel password, I can try to connect with the main FTP account.

Albert He: why i got: Status: Server did not properly shut down TLS connection

Albert He: it saying Server did not properly shut down TLS connection

Albert He: is it possible to reset the server?

Albert He: or restart it?

Boyan K.: To be honest with you there is no issues with the FTP server, as we were able to connect with the new FTP account. If there was any trouble – then we can’t connect to any FTP account. Still, if you wish to give me the cPanel password, I can test the primary FTP account that you are referring to.

Albert He: could you explaint what the message mean?

Boyan K.: I am just investigating the case further and most likely it’s related to the FTP client. You can use the quick connect button, as some users are suggesting that option. You can also try to restart the FTP client or your network.

Albert He: I restarted ftp client, samething happened

Albert He: exactly same message

Boyan K.: Okay, can I please get the password, so I can try to connect from my end?

Albert He: works now, thanks

Albert He: bye, have a nice day!

Boyan K.: I am glad to hear that! 🙂

Boyan K.: Have a good one ahead and if anything else comes up, just reach us back!

Boyan K.: Bye for now!
